issue of X200 graphics driver on windows7

用了将近三个月的X200，键盘的手感还没有让人觉得腻歪，屏幕的显示效果也比快2年的macbook好得多，不过还是有一块心病未除：因为显卡驱动的原因，要么使用Fn组合键调节屏幕亮度的时候，没有on screen display，但调节音量时是正常的；要么换个新版本的驱动，能解决on screen display，但连接到投影仪时，投到墙上的画面根本无法分辨，颜色是花的。两害相权取其轻，我现在使用的驱动版本是8.15.10.1872，保证连接投影仪正常。

Intel官网上有更新一点的驱动，但是目前手上没有显示器也没有投影仪，无法测试能不能正常连接投影仪，就这么将就用吧。鉴于查询Win7的搜索比较多，把这个存在已久的问题放出来，希望能够有帮助，省掉一些搜索的工作量。

firefox变chrome

自认为是一个google fans，不过对chrome浏览器一直不怎么感冒，实在是firefox用顺了不想换。但是chrome的外观又很简洁，如何鱼和熊掌兼得呢。还好改造的目标是firefox，只需要3个插件：

• Compact Menu 将菜单栏集成为一个图标放在工具栏前面，还可以自定义图标
• Chromifox Basic 这其实是一个主题，但下面这个插件是基于这个主题开发的。如果使用的是3.5版firefox，要找这个主题的older version
• Total ReChrome 安装完这个插件后，90%的Chrome外观就出来了。

仅存的一点小瑕疵就是标签栏还是没有出现在窗口标题栏的位置，很大的缺憾。

墙外tweets墙内采

除了Gmail上的TwitterGadget，在局域网内的blog侧栏中显示tweets也有了解决方案，用Silvester即可解决，原方案地址：http://www.silverlightshow.net/items/Silvester-A-Silverlight-Twitter-Widget.aspx

将代码放入blog的侧栏代码中，再把代码中蓝色部分换为相应的帐户名，大功告成。

Finished Windows7(beta) installation on MacBook

重装系统这种事情从来都是心血来潮，兴奋起来也顾不上备份数据，自从那台hp被折腾上win7之后，macbook上的xp怎么看都不顺眼，昨晚终于没忍住要在macbook上动手了。到现在我都佩服自己居然在不确定格式化掉那个xp系统分区后还能不能进行系统选择的情况下，就那么轻松地按下了enter。

安装过程出奇的顺利，无线网卡、显卡不需要再去找驱动。但是其他设备（主要是声卡）没有正常工作，没有声音显然难以接受。刚进系统我就发现原来的系统分区对win7显得有点小了，一不做二不休，调整分区吧——这是当年安装xp后经常做的操作，从那以后硬盘里甭管有用没用必备Partition Magic。但这次在win7下PQ不能正常工作了，于是换Acronis Disk Director，但要贡献空间的那个分区属于logical，怎么弄都分不到primary里去，删除之后甚至无法在win7的磁盘工具下重建分区。这中间我又重装了win7（重蹈xp覆辙），当重装win7在划分磁盘那个步骤时，犯了致命的错误，把primary分区删除，变到了extend。这下好了，根本无法再进行下一步安装。折腾至此差不多已经用了5个小时，只能睡觉静候第二天。

因为第二天能找到一堆在dos下用的磁盘工具，但当面对spfdisk下不知所云的繁体描述时，比在英文环境下更让人无从下手，更郁闷的是dos下的PQ无法正常工作，可能是因为在macbook中的原因。由于硬盘里还有mac系统和另一坨70多G的数据，彻底删除重新分区的念头更是不敢动。好在最后一试终于成功——还是靠PQ，只不过是在一个虚拟出的WinPE系统里，成功将合并后的45G转换为Primary分区，最后Apply，重启。然后又安装了一次Windows7-_-!

接下来的事情就都是发生在windows7中的了。首先显示屏太亮，而且无法调节。自然就是fn以及一系列组合键无效，顺理成章就判断出BootCamp下的一系列驱动没有安装。在插入Leopard第一章盘安装BC的时候，出现了2229错误。原以为盘里的BC不兼容win7，google一下才发现是由于将Date and time formats改为Chinese造成的，于是调回English(US),顺手把location也改回默认。之后Bootcamp成功安装，除声卡之外的一系列apple硬件工作正常！

至于声卡驱动，到realtek的ftp://202.65.194.211/pc/audio/里，下载Vista_R214版，安装之后就能听到声音了。于是到目前为止，我只需要祈祷不要再出现忽然黑屏必须强行关机再重启的故障，第一次遇见这种状况时我大脑里一片空白，以为小白和我say byebye了。剩余的工作是找个杀毒软件，然后等待各虚拟光驱大爷们支持一下window7beta。

Firefox crashed

Firefox almost makes me mad: when I close the GMAIL tab in firefox by clicking the close button in the individual tab, FIREFOX CRASHES.

To solve this problem, I tried to reinstall firefox, upgrade to firefox3.1beta2, run firefox with safemode, or clear all of the private data. none worked.

I also report it to Mozilla, maybe they think about it as Google’s fault.

It seems that this problem appears after the Gmail Notifier app. installed, but crash continues after this app. uninstalled.

In the daytime, I searched the solution in Google by the keywords: “Gmail Firefox Crash”, and the results were only about the problem description without the effective operation. Just now after I posted this entry for the first time, I change the keyword to “关闭gmail tab firefox 崩溃“, with some chinese characters.

God is really helping me!

Now I am thinking about using another antivirus software instead of  Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, it also caused the Microsoft Word 2007  problem about saving action.

Driver for X3100 (winXP) on Macbook403

托成都电信的福，耗时三周终于下载完4.4G大小的Sudden Strike3的安装镜像文件。安装后运行，居然弹出错误提示:direct3d doesn’t support vertex shader 2.0，无法进入游戏。想想另一个游戏Sniper-Art of Victory里的草地效果无法渲染的情况，可以确认是显卡的问题了。

在Macbook上使用XP系统，驱动都是通过BootCamp安装，心想Apple自带的驱动应该不会有问题。虽然对这两个游戏不是很渴望，但又心有不甘。今晚忍不住跑Inter网站上搜了一下Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset的显卡驱动，安装重启，问题解决。

这是第一次，更新驱动解决了问题。
